Trauma, Addiction, and Anxiety Therapy in Charlotte, NC
Types of Therapy
I combine many approaches into your treatment to co-create sessions with you. No one person is alike, and so their treatment isn't either. Below are some of the types of therapy I use. If the name is underlined, you can click to learn more.

EMDR reduces distressing emotions related to past events and replaces unhelpful beliefs and responses with healthier ones. EMDR is highly effective for trauma, ptsd, addiction, and areas of life where you feel stuck. We will focus on the past, present, and rehearse for the future so that you experience long term relief.

SOMATIC
Somatic therapy brings your body and nervous system into talk therapy. This is often the missing piece for anyone who has tried therapy before and didn't have the results they were seeking. You will learn how to actually feel and release emotions and why incorporating the body is essential for true change to happen.

PARTS WORK/Internal Family Systems (IFS)
If you've ever used the phrase "part of me wants to and part of me doesn't"- you've already experienced what it's like to have different parts of you that seem to have different agendas. Some parts try to change but other parts sabotage the process. IFS helps to understand why this is happening and how to integrate these parts so you're able to live and respond to situations from a more calm, cohesive, and authentic place.
EXPRESSIVE
Expressive therapy helps you to work with emotions and memories that words alone can't reach. We may create visual aids for you to take home, use art (no art skills needed), music, props, or other creative approaches. This targets areas of the brain that talk therapy cannot access and where our memories, senses, and emotions are stored.

EXPERIENTIAL
Experiential therapy allows you to re-play the past and rehearse the future in a safe way. Once this happens, you gain a more helpful understanding of what occurred, experience less pain from the past, and create new solutions for overcoming future issues. We may incorporate guided imagery and role play during this.

TALK THERAPY
Together we will explore how your story has shaped you and how to use the strengths you've got to work through problems now. I see you as unique in the best way and I'm always working to re-connect my clients to their true selves, even if that true self feels very lost in the beginning. I provide interactive feedback and will work with you to challenge and change unhelpful thought and behavior patterns.

Safe and Sound &
Rest and Restore Protocols
These are evidence-based listening therapies developed by Dr. Stephen Porges that use specially filtered music to help regulate the nervous system and cultivate a sense of safety. This process stimulates the vagus nerve and increases emotional and behavioral regulation, reduces stress and auditory sensitivities, and enhances your ability for social engagement and resilience for difficult situations.
