What To Expect

Here are the steps that will happen when we start to work together
-
Complete inquiry form here
-
I will reach out within 48 hours (usually sooner) to schedule a free, 20 minute video consultation.
-
We meet on video so that I can hear more about what you’re looking for in a therapist and you can get a feel for who I am and how I practice, and I can answer any questions you have.
-
If you want to move forward, we will schedule an initial session. You have the option for 50 or 80 minutes. Some people want more time during their first session. I will also collect payment information at this time in order to reserve your session time.
-
I will send over a link for you to register in your new client portal and ask that you complete your intake paperwork. This paperwork includes important information about my practice policies, confidentiality practices, and your history. Please complete this at least 24 hours before your first session. This allows me to review it before your appointment and better prepare for your first session.
-
During the initial session we will identify your goals, talk about what has worked and not worked previously, discuss your family, psychiatric, and relationship history, identify strengths, and you will leave with at least 1 tool you can use between sessions to feel better.
-
We typically meet weekly for the first 6-8 sessions and then assess whether you’re ready to move to every other week. We continue to move down in frequency from there.
-
During your treatment I may suggest other offerings such as workshops, therapy groups, support groups, or intensives. I may also try to connect you with other supports such as a physician, medication provider, or encourage something in the community like volunteering or a new hobby. I believe one goal of therapy should be that you eventually don’t need me any longer because you’re re-connected to yourself, others, and the community around you.
